Coordination Committees to Combat Dengue
28 Sep
Summary
- District Collectors will chair committees for epidemic disease prevention.
- Grassroots committees will include local representatives and health workers.
- Specific 'Dry Days' are mandated to eliminate mosquito breeding sources.

To enhance the prevention of epidemic diseases such as dengue and chikungunya at the local level, coordination committees will be established, with District Collectors serving as chairs. These newly directed committees are to be formed at the grassroots within local bodies, incorporating councillors, panchayat members, residents' association representatives, and health workers.
To combat mosquito breeding, particularly during intermittent rains, specific 'Dry Days' will be observed. Fridays are designated for educational institutions, Saturdays for workplaces, and Sundays for households, requiring the elimination of all potential mosquito breeding sources. An action plan for this initiative will be developed in collaboration with the Local Self-Government Minister.
Furthermore, preventive activities will be stepped up according to the epidemic calendar. Fever clinics in affected areas will be strengthened, and new ones will be opened where necessary. District Medical Officers and Programme Managers will convene meetings to review daily grassroots activities, ensuring a robust public health response.
