In Delhi, a significant health initiative has commenced, with 23 girls aged 14 receiving the HPV vaccine, marking them as the first recipients of this special vaccination drive. This program aims to combat cervical cancer and related diseases. The Gardasil 4 vaccine, administered as a single dose to eligible 14-year-olds and those turning 15 within three months, protects against four high-risk HPV types.
The launch event also saw the inauguration of a new ten-bed medical intensive care unit (ICU) and a GI HD video endoscopy suite. These facilities are expected to significantly improve the management of critically ill patients and enhance diagnostic accuracy for gastrointestinal disorders.
Furthermore, the foundation stone was laid for a new outpatient department (OPD) building at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) to address overcrowding. The chief minister also launched a morning nutrition program for government school students in collaboration with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, designed to boost concentration and overall nutritional intake.
