Delhi's Mobility Scheme Empowers 435+ with Aids

In the 2025-26 period, the Social Welfare Department organized 17 camps across Delhi, distributing assistive devices to 435 beneficiaries. These aids included motorized tricycles, wheelchairs, and hearing aids, significantly enhancing mobility and independence for individuals with benchmark disabilities.
An additional 358 individuals have been assessed and will receive support in upcoming distribution events. The scheme, with an allocation of ₹2 crore this year, has already utilized over ₹40 lakh, with the remainder earmarked for further outreach.
The Sugamya Sahayak Scheme targets Delhi residents with a minimum 40% disability and an annual family income not exceeding ₹8 lakh. It aims to facilitate access to education, employment, and livelihood opportunities by providing durable and standardized assistive appliances.
