A new mother in Georgia is alleging that a delayed Cesarean section at Memorial Health University Medical Center resulted in severe injuries to her newborn son. Jessica Hainley reported that her water broke on September 25, 2025, well before her scheduled C-section on October 10, 2025.
Hainley claims that despite contractions five minutes apart, she was not properly assessed for five hours due to alleged poor communication and a lack of available gloves for cervical exams. She states her C-section was postponed twice for more urgent cases.
Her husband alleged he was not allowed in the pre-op area and witnessed her in severe pain during the operation. Hainley reports a lack of communication regarding her pain levels during delivery. Her son was born with skull fractures and brain bleeds, requiring NICU care, oxygen, and a feeding tube.
Medical records, according to reports, noted no complications during the procedure but did document the newborn's injuries and low muscle tone. The hospital maintains the parents' opinions are not supported by medical facts, while acknowledging complications can occur even with appropriate care.
Hainley filed a complaint with the hospital and later reached out to the Joint Commission. The Joint Commission identified requirements for improvement at the facility. Hainley seeks to prevent similar incidents by sharing her experience and advocating for higher standards.
