A new defibrillator is now operational at Morton Stanley Park in Worcestershire, following a dedicated five-year campaign. The life-saving device has been installed near the changing rooms at the Green Lane entrance.
The successful installation is the result of a collaborative effort spearheaded by Leon West, chair of Headless Cross Juniors Football Club, and Green Party councillor Claire Davies. Councillor Davies emphasized the importance of protecting residents, stating that the defibrillator provides an essential layer of security for anyone in need.
Mr. West initiated the campaign five years ago, facing initial resistance from local council members. His persistence led him to Councillor Davies, who not only facilitated the defibrillator's installation in a matter of months but also ensured access to a portable unit during the interim. The equipment is designed for public use, offering critical intervention for cardiac arrest cases, as highlighted by the British Heart Foundation's statistics on survival rates without swift aid.
