Daya General Hospital in Thrissur has achieved Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation, a globally recognized standard for healthcare quality and patient safety. This makes it the first hospital in Thrissur to receive this distinction, joining an elite group in India. The rigorous evaluation from January 13 to 16, 2026, assessed numerous critical areas of hospital operations and patient care.
Dr. V.K. Abdul Azeez, Managing Director, stated that the accreditation reflects the hospital's commitment to safety and continuous improvement, aiming to provide world-class healthcare locally. Dr. Fazil Abubakar CP, Medical Director, highlighted the dedication of the team in meeting global benchmarks.
Further bolstering its growth, Daya General Hospital secured ₹150 crore in institutional equity funding in 2025 from Ascent Capital. This investment supports a five-year expansion plan aimed at increasing bed capacity from 500 to 1,500. Key projects include a new Oncology Super Speciality Centre by 2026 and a specialized Mother & Child Centre.
The expansion roadmap also involves establishing two new hospitals in neighboring districts and upgrading the Thrissur unit into a quaternary care center. These initiatives aim to enhance accessibility to advanced medical services and reduce patient travel for complex procedures, reinforcing Daya's position as a comprehensive healthcare network.
