Dancer's Plea for Friend Battling Incurable Cancer

A close friend of dancer Amy Dowden, Carrie, is bravely confronting stage four cancer that is currently incurable. Carrie had previously battled bowel cancer, which followed a diagnosis of colitis, and had undergone chemotherapy and used a stoma bag. Initially, her scans indicated no disease, but the cancer has unfortunately returned.

Dowden, a professional dancer known for her role on Strictly Come Dancing, shared this news while emphasizing the importance of health awareness. She herself has been open about her own significant health journey, having been diagnosed with stage three aggressive breast cancer at 32 in May 2023. After initial treatments including a single mastectomy and chemotherapy, she received positive news in February 2024, showing no evidence of disease. As a proactive measure, she underwent a second mastectomy in November 2025, distinct from a new diagnosis.

The dancer has highlighted Carrie's situation to encourage support for her and her family, urging people to donate if they are able to help them during this challenging time. Her plea comes after her own experiences, underscoring the unpredictable nature of cancer and the need for ongoing vigilance.
