Craig Charles' Deadly Health Scare Mirrors Brother's Fate

Actor and DJ Craig Charles has disclosed a serious health scare, revealing that he suffered from narrowed arteries, a condition identical to the one that tragically claimed his brother's life in 2014.

Charles, who was participating in I'm A Celebrity for the second time, shared his experience with fellow campmates. He described the initial symptom as a 'tingling' in his jaw, a warning sign that prompted him to seek medical attention. Doctors identified his condition as genetic and emphasized the need for immediate care.

He learned that his heart was only receiving 35% blood flow due to the blockages. Following intervention, which included the insertion of four stents, his blood flow has been restored to 100%. This medical procedure, however, requires him to take eight pills daily to manage his condition.

The British Heart Foundation notes that atherosclerosis, the buildup of fatty deposits in arteries, can lead to serious events like heart attacks or strokes. While symptoms may not appear for years, they can manifest as pain during exertion. Factors like smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure, and obesity increase the risk.
