COVID-19 Returns: Kadapa Reports Cases & Deaths

COVID-19 has made a resurgence in Andhra Pradesh's YSR Kadapa district, with health authorities escalating surveillance and preparedness following eight reported cases and two recent fatalities. The district is currently monitoring eight active COVID-19 cases.

A 52-year-old man from Rajampet and a 43-year-old man from Kadapa, both testing positive for COVID-19, passed away while receiving treatment in Vellore and Kadapa hospitals, respectively. Additionally, a 25-year-old medical student from Kadapa Medical College has also tested positive and is under home isolation.

In response, special rapid response teams have been deployed, and extensive sample testing is underway, with results from some tests still pending. Genome sequencing of collected samples is being conducted to identify potential new variants and understand transmission patterns.

State officials have directed authorities to strictly enforce COVID-19 guidelines, make mask-wearing mandatory in crowded public spaces, and conduct awareness programs. Intensified sanitation measures are being implemented in affected areas, and family members of infected individuals are being tested immediately for swift isolation or monitoring.
