Eli Lilly and Company has confirmed the seizure of counterfeit products in Gurugram, Haryana, which were falsely labeled as its Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) brand. The company stated these counterfeit items were not manufactured by Lilly and were outside its verified supply chain. Authorities have recovered most of the identified fake products.
Winselow Tucker, President and General Manager for Eli Lilly India, highlighted the potential risks of counterfeit drugs to patient safety and public health. He emphasized Lilly's commitment to working with regulators and law enforcement to protect patients globally from unsafe products. Tucker urged customers to obtain Lilly products exclusively through authorized distributors or licensed pharmacies with a prescription.
Lilly also noted that its tirzepatide molecule is marketed in India under the brand names Mounjaro® and Yurpeak®. The supply of genuine Lilly products through authorized channels continues without interruption.
