Fake Drugs Flood Karnataka Hospitals!

A large-scale counterfeit drug operation has been exposed in Bengaluru, Karnataka, with fake and expired medicines, including critical cancer drugs and ICU injections, found to have been supplied to more than 90 hospitals and clinics throughout the state. The illicit scheme was uncovered on August 18 when authorities raided an unlicensed farmhouse near Bidadi, discovering drugs with altered expiry dates and disguised as expensive imported brands. The seized consignment had an estimated label value of ₹5 crore.

A Special Investigation Team has been formed to investigate the full extent of this network and its distribution channels. Preliminary findings indicate that the operation, in collusion with a Bengaluru pharmacy, had been active for an extended period before its discovery. Authorities are also exploring possible inter-state connections and scrutinizing the involvement of private hospitals in purchasing these substandard drugs.
