Cops Praised as "Heroes" for Rushing to Save Infant's Life

On November 10, 2025, a terrifying medical emergency unfolded for an Alabama family when their newborn daughter suddenly stopped breathing. Jami-Marie Owen was nursing her baby to sleep when the infant spiked a fever and began convulsing. Owen and her husband immediately called 911 as their daughter's condition rapidly deteriorated.

The baby's lips turned blue and she stopped breathing, prompting the parents to begin CPR. Thankfully, their first aid and CPR training kicked in, and they were able to revive the infant and restore her breathing before emergency services arrived. Just four minutes after the 911 call, police rushed to the home and ran to assist the family.

Owen later shared security camera footage of the officers' swift response, praising them as "heroes" for their actions. The baby was transported to the hospital, where she made a full recovery. Owen credits the Owlet baby monitor for alerting them to the crisis, saying it "might have had a different outcome" without the device.

The ordeal serves as a reminder of the importance of CPR training for parents. Owen hopes her family's experience will encourage others to become first aid and CPR certified, as those skills can truly mean the difference between life and death.
