Colostrum Craze: Should You Add This "Liquid Gold" to Your Diet?

As of November 15, 2025, colostrum has emerged as the latest wellness trend, with influencers and supplement brands touting its potential benefits. Colostrum, the nutrient-dense early form of breast milk produced right after birth, is being added to drinks and marketed for its ability to improve immunity, gut health, and even aid weight loss and exercise recovery.

However, experts caution that the research on colostrum supplements for adults is still in its early stages. Dr. Pieter Cohen, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School, notes that while colostrum contains important compounds for infant development, the evidence for its effects on adults is limited. Similarly, registered dietitian Wesley McWhorter says most of the existing research is "very preliminary" and there are no large-scale studies to make definitive claims.
