Choc Recall: Salmonella Fears Expand to All Products
11 May
Summary
- Company recalls all 12 product lines due to salmonella risk.
- Initial January recall expanded after date ingredient identified.
- No illnesses reported, but consumers urged not to eat bars.

Spring & Mulberry, a producer of date-sweetened chocolate bars, has significantly expanded its product recall to encompass all 12 of its offerings. This action stems from concerns over possible salmonella contamination.
The expanded recall follows an initial recall initiated in January for the company's Mint Leaf Date Sweetened Chocolate Bar. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) stated that a single lot of date ingredient used in production is believed to be the source of the contamination.
The affected product lines include various flavors such as Blood Orange, Coffee, and Sea Salt, sold nationwide online and through select retailers from August 2025. Consumers can identify the impacted items by batch code or UPC number.
Although all recalled chocolate bars have tested negative for salmonella and no illnesses have been reported, the company advises consumers to refrain from eating them. Instructions for obtaining a refund involve emailing a photo of the product packaging, including the batch code, to the company.
This recall is part of a larger trend of food product recalls due to salmonella concerns. Recently, other items like pizzas and hot cocoa mixes have also been recalled as a precautionary measure, even in cases where no illnesses were confirmed.
