Summary
- Children's vision screened for common eye disorders.
- Early detection of refractive errors improves learning.
- Parents and teachers receive tips for protecting vision.

The LVPEI's GMR Varalakshmi Campus has initiated a comprehensive vision screening program across local schools. This ongoing effort focuses on identifying and correcting common eye disorders among children, ensuring they have the best chance for academic success.
Trained eye care professionals are meticulously examining students for conditions such as refractive errors, myopia, amblyopia, and squint. Children diagnosed with vision problems are referred for thorough evaluations, including necessary cycloplegic refraction, and receive prescriptions for corrective eyewear.
Consultant Optometrist G. Abhishek highlighted that prompt detection and management of refractive errors significantly boost children's ability to learn in class. Those with more complex ocular conditions are referred to ophthalmologists for specialized care.
In parallel, the LVPEI team is conducting awareness sessions. These sessions equip teachers and parents with practical advice on protecting children's eyesight, advocating for increased outdoor activities, reduced screen time, and regular eye check-ups.
