Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Science in Lucknow recently organized an International Childhood Cancer Day celebration. The event highlighted the crucial importance of early diagnosis, dedicated nursing care, and public awareness in improving survival rates for children with cancer.
Paediatric surgical specialists and the College of Nursing led the program. It included a state-level continued medical education event and a workshop focused on paediatric oncology nursing. Healthcare professionals and nursing students from across Uttar Pradesh attended.
Experts shared insights, stressing that timely symptom identification and specialized nursing support are vital for better outcomes. The event featured lectures and hands-on demonstrations, alongside participation from NGOs offering support to children with cancer.
Awareness activities, including a skit, poster competition, and quiz, were conducted. These aimed to underscore the need for early detection and supportive care, engaging participants with key messages.
