Chhattisgarh Launches Massive Malaria Fight

The Chhattisgarh government has launched the 14th phase of its 'Malaria Mukt Chhattisgarh Abhiyan' to further reduce malaria prevalence. This extensive campaign, which commenced on June 15, 2026, targets the screening of over 1.6 million people.

The initiative spans 2,476 villages across 36 development blocks in 10 districts, including all seven districts of the Bastar division. A dedicated force of 2,063 survey teams is conducting door-to-door visits to identify fever cases, perform rapid testing, and administer immediate treatment.

This campaign builds upon significant progress, as malaria cases in Chhattisgarh have declined by over 80% between 2015 and 2025. Bastar division, once a malaria hotspot, has seen its annual parasite incidence fall dramatically. The focus remains on remote areas and institutions, with awareness drives on prevention and treatment also underway.
