Kauvery Hospital in Vadapalani, Chennai, has launched a comprehensive suite of specialized Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) services. This initiative is designed to support patients facing complex clinical challenges by enhancing the hospital's critical care capabilities.
The Kauvery Centre for ECMO and Advanced Life Support now offers a range of advanced services. These include VV-ECMO for severe respiratory failure, VA-ECMO for cardiac failure, and V-AV ECMO for combined heart and lung issues. The program also features awake ECMO and specialized transport options.
ECMO provides crucial temporary life support when traditional treatments for severe heart or lung failure prove ineffective. Dr. K. Madhan Kumar, Director of ECMO and VAD, highlighted that ECMO allows medical teams to manage underlying conditions and assess recovery potential while addressing potential complications in other organs.
This advancement underscores Kauvery Group of Hospitals' commitment to cutting-edge critical care. Executive Director Aravindan Selvaraj emphasized that managing complex conditions relies on a synergistic combination of skilled specialists, advanced technology, and expert clinical judgment, especially when patient needs evolve rapidly.
