Gujarat Children Die From Virus; Health Teams Deployed

Tragic news from Gujarat's Panchmahal district as two young children from neighbouring villages, Vinjol and Jitpura, have succumbed to Chandipura virus infection. Laboratory tests confirmed the cause of death for the three-year-old and four-year-old victims.

In response to these deeply concerning events, the state's health department has initiated a swift containment operation. Medical teams are conducting extensive door-to-door surveillance and have begun intensified insecticide spraying, particularly in mud houses where the disease-carrying sand flies are known to breed. Special teams from medical colleges in Godhra and Vadodara have been deployed to support local health workers.

Health Minister Praful Pansheriya reassured residents, stating that no cases have been reported outside the two affected villages. He urged parents to seek immediate medical care if children exhibit symptoms like fever, vomiting, or convulsions. The state government emphasized that all necessary control measures are in place, including adequate medicine supplies and recommendations for hygiene and insect bite prevention.
