Care Home Plunges from Outstanding to Inadequate
16 Oct
Summary
- Care provider previously rated outstanding is now inadequate.
- Inspection revealed breaches in five legal regulations.
- Staff failed to follow policies and used faulty equipment.
Dedicated Care East Anglia, a provider supporting adults with physical and learning disabilities, has seen its rating drastically fall from outstanding to inadequate following a recent inspection. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) conducted the inspection in August after receiving concerns about the standard of care.
The CQC found the provider in breach of five legal regulations, leading to its placement in special measures. Inspectors identified significant issues, including staff not adhering to policies, failing to report safeguarding concerns, and using known faulty equipment. Furthermore, leaders were found to not consistently ensure the safety of medicines and treatments, nor verify staff qualifications and experience.
At the time of the inspection, the facility was supporting four individuals with domiciliary care and 30 in supported living arrangements. Despite the critical findings, staff did ensure clients lived in clean environments, and families largely expressed satisfaction with the care received. Dedicated Care East Anglia stated they were deeply disappointed and that the rating did not reflect positive feedback from service users and families.
