The 32nd annual conference of the Cardiological Society of India (CSI), Bihar chapter, Cardicon 2026, has successfully concluded. This event hosted approximately 14 scientific sessions, delving into the latest advancements in cardiac treatment, groundbreaking technologies, and crucial aspects of preventive healthcare.
Discussions on the concluding day centered on significant cardiac issues, including complications that arise during pregnancy, the management of hypertension, the evolving landscape of pacemaker technology, and strategies for addressing complex coronary blockages. A notable highlight was the emphasis on serious cardiac risks women may face post-childbirth, even without a prior history of heart disease.
The conference also underscored the importance of integrated care, with a call for enhanced collaboration between cardiology and cardiac surgery departments. The introduction of hybrid operating theatres was proposed as a vital step towards efficiently treating intricate cardiac conditions through combined catheter-based interventions and minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Further sessions explored cutting-edge pacemaker technologies like conduction system pacing and leadless pacemakers. Techniques such as rotablation and intravascular ultrasound were also detailed for managing complex coronary blockages. The interconnectedness of heart health with other conditions, including kidney disorders, neurological issues, obesity, and diabetes, was thoroughly examined.
During the annual general body meeting, Dr. Sandeep Kumar was elected as the new president of the CSI Bihar chapter, taking over from the outgoing president, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar. The conference chairman, Dr. B. B. Bharti, remarked that the event provided an invaluable platform for physicians to exchange knowledge and insights on the most current treatment methodologies.
