Helen Warren, who suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on September 9, 2025, has been reunited with the emergency responders who saved her life at Gatwick Airport.
Warren collapsed and stopped breathing while waiting at the departure gate. Immediate CPR was administered by the passenger operations team, who also alerted emergency services. Secamb paramedics John Waghorn and Katie Cross, along with the airport's fire and rescue team, arrived swiftly.
Paramedics Waghorn and Cross successfully resuscitated Warren at the scene before she was transported to St George's Hospital in London. She recalled having no memory of the event but expressed deep gratitude, emphasizing the critical role of the first responders in saving her life.
Waghorn highlighted the importance of the first few minutes and the 'chain of survival,' while Cross shared that such reunions are incredibly special and rewarding, noting how well Warren was recovering.
