Girl, 14, Donates 18 Inches of Hair After Beating Cancer

Nine years after receiving a charity wig during her cancer treatment, 14-year-old Seren Deverell has donated 18 inches of her newly grown hair to the Little Princess Trust. Diagnosed with Wilms tumour at age five in July 2017, Seren endured 34 chemotherapy sessions, which caused significant hair loss and made her very unwell. The wig provided by the charity was crucial in helping her regain confidence during this frightening period.

Now cancer-free for seven years, Seren views cutting her hair as a symbolic end to her health struggles. She had been growing her hair for eight years since completing treatment. The donation, made on New Year's Eve, signifies her desire to pay forward the kindness she received and offer hope to other young cancer patients. She has also initiated a fundraising page for the charity.

Seren's journey from patient to benefactor highlights her resilience and compassion. Her mother, Jenny Deverell, shared the emotional significance of the haircut, describing it as a turning point. Seren's successful recovery and return to school after missing a year demonstrate her strength.
