Cancer Patients Gain Hope with Donated Hair Wigs

On World Cancer Day, February 4, 2026, Ernakulam district panchayat president K.G. Radhakrishnan emphasized that acts such as hair donation can significantly boost the confidence of cancer patients. This statement was made during a meeting organized by Sahrudaya, the social work wing of the Ernakulam-Angamaly Archdiocese of the Syro-Malabar Church.
The observance featured numerous programs throughout the city. During the meeting, Sahrudaya director Fr. Jose Koluthuvellil presided. Free wigs were distributed to cancer patients, and Crisitha Tresa, a seventh grader who donated her hair for the second time, along with Shelfu Joseph, a cancer survivor role model, were honored.
Further commemorating World Cancer Day, the Orange Runners Club, in collaboration with the Kochi Corporation, hosted a large blood donation camp at Subhash Park in Kochi. Training certificates were also awarded to individuals who completed wig-making courses, contributing to the initiative.
