A former nurse from Southampton, aged 60, has successfully overcome inoperable stage-four ovarian cancer. The disease had metastasized to her lungs and liver, leading to initial shock and devastation. She described feeling that her life was nearly over.
Following initial successful treatment, she became one of the first ovarian cancer patients at University Hospital Southampton to receive hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). Her consultant has confirmed she is now tumor-free and anticipates a full recovery, enabling her to lead a normal life.
