Beyond 3 Months: A Mother's Fight Fuels Innovation

In 2023, Gaurav Kumar's mother was diagnosed with stage IV gallbladder carcinoma and given three months to live. A second internal hospital review, however, shifted the prognosis, ultimately extending her life by nearly two years through surgery. This event revealed significant challenges within India's oncology ecosystem, particularly concerning fragmented medical data management for families.

Kumar, alongside his classmate Shubham, co-founded BigOHealth, initially focused on broader healthcare access. Following his personal crisis, the company pivoted to oncology decision support. They developed OncoVault, a platform designed to organize cancer patients' medical records into structured timelines, providing oncologists with concise clinical briefs.

BigOHealth also aims to address India's low participation in global clinical trials. By structuring anonymized treatment histories and tumor profiles, the platform seeks to improve efficient trial matching. Kumar emphasizes that BigOHealth acts as a support layer, not a replacement for clinicians, with the goal of reducing confusion and improving patient outcomes.

The company's mission is rooted in the belief that guidance and specialization can change outcomes, ensuring families have better access to information and possibilities in cancer care. This effort seeks to ensure hope in cancer treatment is not solely dependent on personal networks.
