Brixton Boosts Black Donor Numbers with Group Model

A new service designed to enhance the number of black blood donors has been launched at the Brixton Blood Donor Centre in south London. This innovative approach facilitates group bookings, allowing people to donate blood collectively.

The introduction of this service stems from valuable feedback provided by black heritage groups. These groups indicated a higher likelihood of becoming consistent blood donors if they could participate in donation sessions with their respective faith, community, or friendship circles.

Mark Chambers from NHS Blood and Transplant highlighted the project's focus on fostering a shared experience. The goal is to make the act of donating blood more welcoming, inspiring, and ultimately more impactful, particularly for individuals donating for the first time, within a communal setting.
