The radiology department at Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) recently convened a conference focused on 'Basics to advances in breast imaging.' This event underscored the critical importance of early diagnosis and preventive measures in curtailing cancer. The conference, held in association with the Breast Imaging Society of India, also featured a practical workshop on basic interventions.
Government representatives reinforced their commitment to reducing cancer rates among women by organizing special screening camps in rural areas. A notable initiative screened approximately 15,000 women, revealing that nearly 10% had cancer, highlighting the urgent need for early intervention. SVIMS Director Dr. R.V. Kumar affirmed the institute's comprehensive capabilities in diagnosing, screening, and treating breast cancer cases.
SVIMS offers state-of-the-art equipment, including mammography, ultrasonography, breast MRI, and Pet-CT, to aid in early detection. The institution's healthcare professionals are actively engaged in raising awareness among women regarding these advanced diagnostic tools and the importance of regular screenings to combat breast cancer effectively.
