Inflammatory breast cancer is known for its rapid progression, developing within weeks to months. It often evades detection through standard mammograms, leading to frequent misdiagnosis and a generally poorer prognosis compared to other breast cancers.
Risk factors for this aggressive cancer include obesity, being Black, and younger age. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial, as it is always considered at least Stage III and has a better chance of being cured before progressing to Stage IV.
