Tingling Arm Ignored: Brain Tumor Diagnosis After Seizure

A Wisconsin woman's alarming physical symptoms were initially attributed to anxiety, delaying a critical diagnosis. What began as a tingling sensation in her arm escalated to a severe seizure, revealing a significant brain tumor.

Kelsey Stoksted, 32, first experienced the unusual tingling in May 2023. Despite seeking medical attention and even calling an ambulance, her initial tests were inconclusive. Her doctor suggested anxiety, prescribing medication that proved ineffective. The situation drastically changed when Stoksted suffered a grand mal seizure, leading to her hospitalization.

There, doctors discovered a 4-cm tumor on her brain, the cause of her seizures. She has since undergone surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. While her initial prognosis was concerning, a genetic mutation has offered a significantly improved outlook, allowing her to focus on recovery and spending time with her family.
