Boston MedFlight Nurses and Paramedics Secure Landmark Contract

In a significant development, the nurses and paramedics of Boston MedFlight, a non-profit air and ground critical care transport provider, have ratified a new three-year contract. The agreement, negotiated by the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA), includes several key enhancements to support the highly specialized work performed by these healthcare professionals.

The contract provides competitive pay increases, with nurses receiving a 15.5% salary boost and paramedics seeing a 20% increase in new funding. When factoring in the existing step increases on the wage scale, paramedics will enjoy an overall increase of up to 32% over the next three years, while nurses will see a total rise of up to 27.5%.

Beyond the economic improvements, the contract also offers extra time off, recognizing the significant pressures associated with critical care transport roles. Employees will now receive an additional three days of leave time, promoting recovery and rest for the frontline personnel.

MNA Bargaining Committee member James Boomhower emphasized that the contract reflects the critical and highly specialized work performed by the nurses and paramedics, who deliver intensive care in the air and on the ground, managing a wide range of medical emergencies. The enhancements, he said, will help ensure Boston MedFlight can continue to attract and retain the skilled healthcare professionals needed to provide this lifesaving care.
