Bihar Targets 6 Crore Digital Health Records

Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary announced a significant health initiative on September 2, 2026, targeting the creation of digital health records for 6 crore citizens. This campaign, named "Jaanch evam Upchar - Chikitsa Aapke Dwar" (Testing and Treatment - Medical Care at Your Doorstep), will run across all 38 districts until November 30, 2026. The initiative focuses on timely disease detection and treatment, particularly for individuals over the age of 30.

Health workers will conduct door-to-door check-ups and consultations, screening for common ailments like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and respiratory issues. Treatment will be available from local centers to district hospitals as needed. The Chief Minister highlighted the government's commitment to strengthening healthcare, noting a substantial increase in surgeries performed at district hospitals, from 2,428 in June to over 8,000 in the current month.

Further bolstering primary healthcare, 'Mission Kayakalp' will be launched to upgrade facilities at Primary Health Centres and sub-centres. An anaemia screening campaign targeting 1 crore people is also ongoing, complementing the broader goal of ensuring comprehensive family health through accessible and digitized medical records.
