9 Sep
Summary
- Bihar plans integrated technology for patient referrals.
- Ambulances will transmit patient vitals to control centers.
- Pilot project includes major Patna hospitals for real-time data.
Bihar's Health Minister Nishant Kumar has mandated the technological integration of the patient referral system to expedite treatment for critical patients. He stressed the need to unify the 102 and 108 ambulance services into a single emergency network. Real-time data on hospital bed availability will be accessible through a central dashboard, enhancing efficiency.
A pilot project is set to commence at PMCH, AIIMS-Patna, NMCH, and IGIMS. Ambulances involved will feature kiosks for real-time bed availability information and transmit patients' locations to receiving hospitals. This initiative aims to streamline the referral process significantly.
Furthermore, discussions included integrating the 104 helpline and telemedicine services with e-Sanjeevani. The minister encouraged the expanded use of artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze patient data and aid healthcare decision-making. This comprehensive approach seeks to ensure prompt and appropriate patient care, connecting individuals with the right hospitals and specialists without delay.
