29 Aug
Summary
- Bengaluru peptide party planned for Aug 29 was cancelled.
- FDA inspected organizers' company and issued a notice.
- Expired food seized from medical college hostel canteens.
The 'peptide party' planned for Bengaluru on August 29 has been officially cancelled. This decision followed an inspection by the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FDA) of the organizing company, Upsurge Labs LLP, and the issuance of a subsequent notice. The event, advertised as Bengaluru's first of its kind, was to include 'peptide tastings,' music, food, and networking for a limited number of guests. Online, such gatherings are often described as informal events focused on peptide-based products marketed for wellness or fitness. FDA officials initiated action after observing social media posts related to the party. Separately, food safety officials conducted inspections of 34 canteens and kitchens in government and private medical college hostels within the city. During these inspections, five establishments received notices for various violations, including the seizure of 7kg of expired rava and 8 litres of expired milk. Legal action is currently being pursued against the concerned food business operators under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
