BBQ Sauce Recall: Undeclared Allergens Spark FDA Warning
26 Mar
Summary
- BBQ sauce recalled for undeclared soy and wheat allergens.
- Product shipped nationwide, posing risk to allergic consumers.
- Company mislabeled 'Sweet' sauce as 'Mustard,' hiding allergens.

A voluntary recall has been issued for Savannah Bee Company's Honey BBQ Sauce-Mustard, flagged with a Class II risk by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This classification indicates potential for temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects.
The recall, initiated on February 27, 2026, stems from the product containing undeclared soy and wheat. These are two of the nine major allergens regulated by U.S. law. The affected product was distributed nationwide to consumers, stores, and distribution centers from July 30, 2025, to February 26, 2026.
The company discovered that its Honey BBQ Sauce 'Sweet' was mistakenly labeled as 'Mustard.' This mislabeling failed to disclose the presence of wheat and soy allergens. As of March 23, 2026, no illnesses had been reported in connection with the recalled sauce.
Consumers with allergies or severe sensitivities to wheat or soy are at risk of serious reactions. Symptoms can range from mild to life-threatening anaphylaxis. The recall remains ongoing, and consumers are advised to discard the product and request a full refund.
