A disturbing video surfaced on Saturday, purportedly showing an elderly man transporting his seriously ill wife on a handcart from the district hospital in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. The incident has led to an investigation ordered by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio.
A three-member committee, including ADM (F/R), ADM (city), and CMO, has been formed by the Bareilly District Magistrate to probe the matter and submit a report within three days. The Director General of Medical Health, UP, has also initiated a primary investigation, with the guard on duty reportedly removed.
Hospital officials stated the patient, undergoing treatment for high blood sugar for three days, was referred to a higher medical center due to breathing difficulties. However, no discharge or referral slip was provided to substantiate this claim. The husband alleged his wife was not admitted despite hours of waiting, leading him to take her home, expressing profound disappointment with the healthcare system.
