An intensive anti-polio vaccination campaign commenced today in Balochistan, covering 62 identified high-risk union councils within 13 districts of the province. This special initiative, launched by the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Balochistan, is a proactive measure to shield children from the debilitating effects of poliovirus. The campaign is strategically focused on areas characterized by high-risk mobile populations and documented poliovirus circulation, reflecting a concerted effort to break the chain of transmission.
During this vital health drive, a substantial goal has been set to vaccinate 209,557 children who are under the age of five. To ensure widespread coverage and accessibility, an extensive network of 862 vaccination teams has been deployed across the targeted areas. Furthermore, 61 fixed vaccination sites and 72 transit points are operational, ensuring that children traveling with their families also receive the essential oral polio vaccine.
