16 Mar
Summary
- Newborn survived a life-threatening heart defect after a long journey.
- Baby's oxygen levels improved from 65% to 90% post-procedure.
- Further corrective surgery is planned when the child is older.

A newborn from Beed district, Maharashtra, received life-saving treatment for a critical heart defect at a Mumbai hospital. The baby boy, born on November 20, 2025, experienced dangerously low oxygen levels shortly after birth. Specialists advised urgent transfer to Narayana Health SRCC Children's Hospital in Mumbai.
Transported over 12 hours with breathing support, the infant's condition was stabilized with medication and antibiotics. Doctors identified a rare congenital heart anomaly that required intervention. On December 1, 2025, a procedure successfully placed a stent to keep a vital blood vessel open.
The intervention immediately boosted the baby's oxygen saturation from approximately 65% to nearly 90%. He was weaned off ventilator support within three days and discharged a week later. While stabilized, the child will require further open-heart surgery in six to eight months.
