Nara Organics Recalls Formula After Infant Illnesses
14 Jun
Summary
- Organic baby formula recalled nationwide due to infant botulism outbreak.
- Three infants hospitalized after consuming Nara Organics Whole Milk formula.
- Parents urged to stop use and monitor infants for serious symptoms.

Nara Organics has recalled its Whole Milk Organic Powdered infant formula sold nationwide in Target stores and online. This action was taken after a multistate outbreak of infant botulism affecting three babies. The infants, aged between 2 and 5 months, were hospitalized in California, Pennsylvania, and Washington in April and May after consuming the recalled formula.
Infant botulism is a serious illness that affects babies under one year old due to their immature gut microbiomes. Symptoms can include constipation, feeding issues, and breathing problems, requiring immediate medical intervention. The FDA confirmed the affected infants received the necessary treatment. Nara Organics formula represents less than 1% of the U.S. market, so no shortage is anticipated. The Centers for Disease Control advises discarding opened cans safely and monitoring infants closely.
