15 Feb
Summary
- Recall issued for Tippy Toes Apple Pear Banana Fruit puree.
- Elevated patulin levels found by FDA in a single lot.
- No illnesses reported, but consumers urged to return product.

A recall has been issued for a specific lot of Tippy Toes brand Apple Pear Banana Fruit baby food puree. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified elevated levels of patulin, a naturally occurring mycotoxin, in the product during routine testing. The affected lot has a best by date of July 17, 2026, and can be identified by the package code INIA0120.
Consumers who have purchased the affected puree are strongly advised to stop using it immediately. They can either dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund. Initiative Foods, the manufacturer, is working with the FDA to address the issue and ensure consumer safety. The company stated that consumer safety is their highest priority.
Patulin is a substance produced by molds that can grow on fruits like apples. Long-term exposure to patulin can lead to adverse health effects, including potential immune suppression and nerve damage. While no illnesses or injuries have been reported so far, the FDA recommends that consumers contact a healthcare provider if they have concerns about their health after consuming the product. The recalled item was distributed across all U.S. states except Alaska, and possibly to Guam and Puerto Rico.
