- Community fundraising effort fully funds the initiative.

A new initiative providing end-of-life care at home is set to launch in Axminster following a successful community fundraising drive. The Axminster Hospital League of Friends announced the "Hospice at Home" scheme will commence with an event on June 4th at the town's Guildhall.
This project aims to give local individuals diagnosed with a life-limiting illness a choice to remain in their own residences. Specialist palliative care nurses, funded by the initiative, will provide essential support to patients in their homes.
According to Chairman Steve Holt, the charity has secured sufficient funds through extensive fundraising over recent years to sustain the service for an estimated four to five years. Holt expressed gratitude to the community and League of Friends members for their dedication, emphasizing the necessity and deservedness of this service for the people of Axminster.
