Parents Fear Asthma Dismissal After Daughter's Death

Parents of a 13-year-old girl who passed away after an asthma attack and subsequent cardiac arrest have voiced grave concerns, fearing that the condition is too easily overlooked. Emily Albino, from Brent, tragically died on December 16, 2024, following a series of hospital visits. In the 13 months preceding her death, she was admitted to Northwick Park Hospital ten times due to severe coughing and breathing difficulties.

Her parents, Tatiana and Ciro, conveyed their distress, stating they felt "constantly dismissed" by healthcare professionals whenever they raised worries about Emily's escalating symptoms. These repeated visits and the perceived lack of adequate response have led the family to fear for other children whose asthma might be underestimated.

A spokesperson for the London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust has extended their deepest sympathies to Emily's bereaved family. The trust acknowledged the family's loss while providing a statement of condolence. This incident highlights critical discussions around asthma management and patient advocacy within healthcare settings.
