This year's Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage features a groundbreaking air ambulance service for critically ill devotees, as announced by the state government. This initiative significantly expands the healthcare network available to those undertaking the annual journey to Pandharpur.
The 'Aarogyasampann Wari' mobile application will offer pilgrims real-time digital mapping of nearby health centers and emergency medical services along the palkhi route.
In addition to the air ambulance, a robust medical infrastructure is in place. This includes 353 ambulances, 43 ICU facilities, and 156 primary treatment centers. Private hospitals along the route are also directed to reserve 10% of their beds for pilgrims' emergency needs.
Over 3,087 medical personnel, including specialist doctors, are deployed for the event. Public health awareness campaigns, water quality surveillance, and food safety inspections are also being conducted to minimize health risks during the pilgrimage.
