Asda Trolleys Turn Pink for Breast Cancer Checks
2 Oct
Summary
- One in three Britons has never checked their chest for changes.
- Asda trolleys are now bright pink in 10 stores to encourage checks.
- The initiative is part of Asda's 30-year Tickled Pink campaign.
A significant portion of the UK population, one in three individuals, has never examined their chest for changes, according to recent research. In response, Asda has initiated a campaign to promote breast cancer awareness and early detection.
As part of this effort, Asda has introduced bright pink trolleys in 10 stores located in areas with the lowest self-checking rates. These trolleys include QR codes that link shoppers to vital health information and Asda's Pledge-o-Meter, a platform for individuals to pledge regular checks and encourage others.
The initiative is an extension of Asda's Tickled Pink campaign, which has supported breast cancer awareness for three decades and has raised over £100 million. The campaign aims to normalize chest self-examinations, making them a regular habit for everyone.
This increased focus on chest awareness comes as survival rates for breast cancer have significantly improved, nearing 90% for five-year survival, largely due to advances in research, detection, and treatment.
