Antibiotic Recall: Wrong Leaflet in Packs!
3 Jul
Summary
- Common antibiotic packs recalled due to incorrect patient leaflets.
- Millions of Flucloxacillin prescriptions issued annually in the UK.
- Patients can continue taking capsules as quality is not impacted.

Healthcare professionals in the UK have been alerted to recall specific packs of Flucloxacillin capsules due to an incorrect patient information leaflet (PIL). Flamingo Pharma UK Ltd identified that some packs contain a PIL for Amoxicillin instead of Flucloxacillin. This affects batch number 1600636, which expires on 31/08/2028, and was distributed starting May 19, 2026. This recall is a precautionary measure, with estimates suggesting a low number of impacted packs. Flucloxacillin, a penicillin antibiotic, is frequently prescribed in the UK for treating infections like cellulitis and infected eczema, with over three million prescriptions issued annually. Patients who have these capsules are advised that the medication itself is unaffected by the leaflet error and can be safely consumed as directed by their doctor. No further action is required from patients, but they are encouraged to report any adverse reactions through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. Pharmacies and wholesalers must stop supplying the affected batch and return it to their supplier. Correct PILs are available for reference.
