23 Jun
Summary
- Nearly 50 lakh children under five will receive polio drops statewide.
- Andhra Pradesh has been polio-free since the last case in 2008.
- Extensive arrangements include 30,000 booths and 1.31 lakh personnel.

Across Andhra Pradesh, a major public health initiative is scheduled for June 28, targeting over 49.20 lakh children below the age of five for the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme. This critical vaccination drive aims to maintain the state's polio-free status, a milestone achieved in 2008. Preparations are robust, with medical and health department officials confirming elaborate arrangements for its success.
The program will operate from 29,873 vaccination booths on June 28. To ensure complete coverage, follow-up house-to-house visits are planned for June 29 and 30. Special teams and transit vaccination centers are strategically deployed to reach vulnerable populations, including migrant families and those in remote settlements. A total of 1.31 lakh personnel will participate in this extensive campaign.
Oral Polio Vaccine doses have been received and distributed to districts, and all necessary training has been completed. Health officials urge parents to ensure their children under five receive the polio drops, even if they have been vaccinated previously through routine immunization, reinforcing the commitment to eradicating polio.
