The Centre has approved a substantial Rs 2,447.98 crore for Andhra Pradesh's National Health Mission (NHM) programs in 2026-27. This allocation signifies increased focus on human resources, tuberculosis elimination, diagnostic services, and emergency healthcare.
The total funding comprises Rs 1,468.79 crore from the Centre and Rs 979.19 crore from the state. A significant portion, Rs 1,008.50 crore, is designated for human resources and staff salaries under NHM. Additional funds will support routine immunisation, viral hepatitis, malaria, dengue, and TB control programs.
Key programs receiving substantial allocations include the TB control program (Rs 116.50 crore), free diagnostic services (Rs 114.55 crore), and routine immunisation (Rs 97.65 crore). The state also secured Rs 75.50 crore for new initiatives in emergency medical care and tele-consultation.
These funds aim to ensure direct benefit delivery to citizens, strengthen emergency services, expand tele-consultation, and guarantee the availability of essential medicines and equipment. The state has been directed to prioritize essential programs within the approved budget.
