AMR Takes Over Barrow County 911 Ambulance Service

American Medical Response (AMR), the largest EMS provider nationwide, is set to begin providing 911 ambulance services in Barrow County this Tuesday at 7 p.m. This initiative will build upon the existing emergency infrastructure, introducing a new fleet of ambulances to guarantee round-the-clock emergency care for the community. AMR emphasizes its commitment to dependability and investment in staff and equipment. The service will deploy six ambulances from Barrow County Fire Department stations, ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the county. Prehospital blood administration will continue, allowing clinicians to provide critical care before patients reach the hospital. Furthermore, AMR plans to implement a Nurse Navigation program within the first 90 days, offering real-time symptom assessment by registered nurses for eligible 911 callers. This program also aims to identify alternative care options for less critical conditions, optimizing EMS resource availability. Barrow County will also gain access to enhanced specialized resources, including additional aircraft through its partnership with Air Evac Lifeteam, bolstering coverage during significant incidents or high call volumes.
