Ambulance Team Cycles for Charity
21 Jun
Summary
- Ambulance staff will cycle 55 miles for charity.
- The ride starts and ends at Secamb's Crawley headquarters.
- The goal is to collectively surpass 936 miles covered by ambulances.

Executives from the South East Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) Trust are set to participate in a 55-mile cycle ride, mirroring the distance of the London to Brighton Cycle Ride. This event will commence and conclude at Nexus House, Secamb's headquarters in Crawley, and will feature a challenging ascent up Box Hill in Surrey.
The cycle ride serves as the kickoff for a new charitable campaign titled 'Outrun an Ambulance.' Over the next three months, this initiative aims to rally public support by encouraging individuals to surpass the mileage typically covered by an ambulance during a 12-hour operational shift across Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.
Vicky Rees, Head of the Secamb charity, expressed the campaign's ambitious goal: to gather enough contributions to exceed 936 miles, representing the combined distances of ambulances from 11 different Secamb locations. Interim trust chief executive Jen Allan emphasized that the challenge reflects the extra effort ambulance staff and volunteers consistently provide for patients, aiming to raise funds and inspire personal achievements.
