Ambulance Service Sees Major Rating Upgrade

An ambulance service responsible for covering six million individuals in the south of England has had its inspection rating upgraded. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has acknowledged significant improvements within the South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS).
Specifically, two elements of SCAS's care have been elevated from an 'inadequate' rating to 'requires improvement.' Additionally, another aspect of its services has progressed from 'requires improvement' to a 'good' rating. This signifies a positive trajectory in the trust's performance metrics.
However, the CQC report also highlighted areas needing further attention. Concerns were raised that some staff felt unable to freely raise concerns. The commission also criticized the service's protocols for the safe handling of medicines. SCAS has responded by calling the upgrade a major achievement, recognizing the dedicated efforts of its personnel.
